Piddly 2 helped make some very nice biscuits this evening. She then (with the help of Piddly 1) devoured them all in a matter of seconds. 

Man/rabbit in the moon

The piddlies loved looking at the beautiful full moon tonight through the big binoculars.We had a long discussion about the Man in the Moon

The man in the moon is very tired tonight but he had a visit from Boris the little blue bird who came to tea. 

The legend of the man in the moon comes from both judeo Christian and Eastern mythology. We also discovered that there's a rabbit in the moon which comes from Buddhist tradition which tells of when the ruler of heaven comes down to earth in disguise as a beggar and encounters a fox, a monkey and a rabbit. He asks them each to bring him some food. The monkey brings some fruit and the fox brings fish. The rabbit, however, throws himself onto the fire and offers himself as food. The rabbit does not burn though and the ruler of heaven reveals himself. In honour of the rabbits selfishness he takes him up to heaven with him for eternity and imprints his image on the moon. 

There might also be fish on the moon (friends or food for man in the moon), according to Piddly 1. In a roman legend the man in the moon was sent there as punishment for stealing fish. You can certainly make out his eyes -mare serenetatis and mare tranquilitatis, nose and mouth.

Piddly 2 insisted on bringing these two to the playground today. You don't want to argue with Piddly 2!

I piddlies have been taking care of Papa while Mamma is away. Not sure who is the silliest person in the house...silly Piddly 2! (Silly Papa!)

Piddly 1: Le macchine sono caduti in un buco!

Lucky Nonna was there to come to the rescue and 

stick her hand down into the squelching pit of muck to rescue Ferrari & Co.....

Pavone Molto Silly!

This weekend our two kids (the piddlies) went to visit their friend, the very silly pavone (peacock). It took quite a while to find Mr Pavone as he was being 

particularly silly drinking endless cups of cafe latte (he'd recently returned from a weekend in Paris). Piddly 1 was very excited to see one pavone but got a bit close for comfort so Mamma and Papa had to intervene to keep the peace. Piddly 2, meanwhile, wasn't sure...she preferred the hens (as she walks a bit like a hen!)
